Joachim Koenig worked on this some years ago. I recently contacted him and
he said he lost interest (too bad performance) but still has his old code
around. He offered to send it to me.

On the other hand there is ppbus in FreeBSD, and the idea to port it has
come up multiple times.

I guess today none of the developers has a vital enough interest in parallel
port stuff anymore (thanks USB+Firewire).
