It's the same use as option BLINK (that makes sparcs blink their power LED,
you know the machine is down if it does not blink [anymore], for realy old
sparcs that don't have power controlled by software).

I bet it works if you do not try it when the system is realy already
down (i.e. does not generate clock ticks, ...)
