I've updated the patch:

Changes from the previous are:
- load default font in vga_{,raster_}init() rather than
in vga_{,raster_}init_screen()
- use macros in mc6845reg.h and pcdisplayvar.h to access CRTC regsters
- also set up video DAC palette so that all colors are displayed properly
- and more cosmetics
If there is no objection, I'll commit this in this weekend.
