IMHO it is (didn't we get rid of gcc 2.95.x now?). Are there alternatives?
I don't like "char fid_data[2]", when "2" is just a lie.
it was my understanding that yamt is right. we need to avoid using
C99 in exported headers. i'm not sure what is "right" for now...
