Thanks so much for writing this!  I've always wanted the ability to
save userconf settings; you've gone well beyond what I wanted.  Can't
wait to try it out.

BTW, we should definitely take advantage of this with install media;
it should increase flexibility many times over while saving quite a
bit of space.
