One problem with the ABI it that for one platform, you may be to power
on a device before it can be probed/attached. I don't see how to
accomplish that with the current ABI. The other thing I don't see is
aggregation of devices into the same power domain (which is orthogonal
to what bus it lives on). I think that the idea of power domain and
bus needs to be separate.

I'm thinking of a cell-phone. Once a device goes idle, it should be
powered down (assuming that power-on/power-off is small enough to not
noticeable in human reaction time). If I'm not sending audio, I want
the audio powered off. When there is something to be played, I want
to turn audio on. Are you saying this would be done at in the audio
class layer?

My target is different from the usual laptop and I don't that the
statement can be generalized to all platforms.
