Start contributing

Hello, I managed to install NetBSD on my laptop (my desktop can't work
at the moment because my gpu isn't supported by amdgpu yet) and I'd like
to start contributing to the project. This summer I thought of
participating the GSoC under NetBSD but before trying to propose a
project to work on I wanted to get familiar with the kernel first.
Under the projects page I found this:
https://wiki.netbsd.org/projects/project/shutdowntime/ which seems quite
simple to me, can I work on this to start looking at how things are
structured? Do you have any suggestion?
