If we expand this into generic interfaces, to include your fddi driver and
the like...
You could think of expanding this;
speed=(10,100,...)
media=(aui,tp,t2,tp4,bnc,mii,das,sas,...)
encaps=(ether2,8023,...)
What we are looking for here is basically an stty like interface :(
Much of the info provided can be ignored by the driver (try setting a
10BaseT casd to 100BaseT4 :) But, overall, there are a large number of
parameters that could be usefully set for each type of (possibly virtual)
hardware.
I am sure that if I had actually not *just* woken up and I was not
waiting to go make coffee, I could offer a more thought out "solution" :)
I shall get the coffee and think this through a bit more...
