IIANM, last time this came up, people with old, slow machines (e.g.,
68020s, vaxes) were not enthralled with the extra cost of quad_t adds.
Please dont shoot the messenger ;).
I'd be more worried about changing other event counters, with more
frequent updates, to be 64-bit counters. ANd about the possibility of
SNMP truncating the longer counters.
