  Is the Am79C971/Am79C972 similar enough to the 7990 that the am7990.c
can handle it? I assume that this is what the if_le_pci.c helps with.
  So, the

  This chip will be used as part of a customer NIC card, and I'd rather
say "NetBSD already supports it, rather well... so let's use it rather
than the penguin in the corner"
  Frankly... the Linux code scares me, and I'd be surprised if the same
code is useful on an Alpha. And then there is the licensing issue.

  Are there any cards with the AMD that I should stay away from if I want
a "normal" card as well? The NE2100 is the only one that I know that 
uses the PCnet chipset.
