The idea is excellent. The name, however, er, sucks :).
It doesn't fit the style of the existing mbuf code at all.
(to me  sounds rather   Linux-like).
One alternative that (imho) fits a lot better is m_copyup().


Technically: how does it compare to how other *BSD's handle the issue?
