Depends which of the 3 or 4 distinct chipsets models you have. Newer
retail boards (Pro/1000MT?) may work only in 3.3v slots, which usually
equates to requiring a 64-bit as well. Older boards (pro/1000, Pro/1000[F,T,TX])
work fine in 32-bit 5v slots. I used an early wiseman in one for years.
32-bit PCI is a significant bottleneck for gig-e. if you're buying new
(or even buying second-hand), i'd look at a cheaper card, e.g. netgear ga-302T.
