No answer from me but perhaps a workaround.

Does that stabilize it for you?  I found that after moving to 2.0 on my
server I was having the same problem.  That fixed it.

More clues - I got that fix from a discussion a year ago when I had the
same problem connecting to a NetApp from NetBSD 1.6.  This suggests to
me that the actual problem is in the client code.  I'm afraid it all
gets a little foggy for me at that point but perhaps this is a useful
datapoint for someone.
