With minimal configuration, I could get a working roaming setup on my
old laptop. E.g. based on availability, it switched between Ethernet,
Wireless and 3G.

At least for DHCPv4, I am not aware of any functionality in the older
dhclient version in base or in newer DHCP3 that dhcpcd is missing.
Please correct me if I am wrong. On the positive side, it is
significantly smaller than the version of dhclient we have in base.

Let me give back the question to you -- what problems do you see and
would like to get solved better?
