Stop with the FUD nonsense.  No one is proposing removing e.g. obsolete Ethernet support (although some specific drivers may disappear if no one can be found with any devices to test needed changes).  But if no one even cares enough to test changes, there's no point in leaving the code there to just rot (or worse, hinder progress on other parts of the system).
