How compatible is mysql with (say) oracle or SQL server dialects of SQL?

Does it support nested selects and views ?

I tried  Postgresql, but it did neither the last time I looked, although both
could be simulated with a bit of fiddling, this unfortunately meant translating
backwards and forwards when developing applications.

Any info appreciated.
