looking at PR 6010, I wonder why the cleanup() in delete/perform.c 
shouldn't account for being used as signal handler as well (similar to 
the other cleanup()-functions), and exit() in that case. Something like

	cleanup()
	{
		if (signo)
			exit(1);
		else
			return;
	}

(Besides this looks good to me)
