Well, seems I was actually able to accomplish the improbable.  :-/

mod_perl (pkg "www/ap-perl") is now in pkgsrc and will show up with the next
update.  It requires "apache-1.3.3.1" (www/apache, a NetBSD-patched version
of apache with special hooks) and works as a dynamic module; no
"integration" into the main server is necessary beyond a small addition to
httpd.conf.
