  No, please don't; that pollutes lib even more than it already is, contrary
to hier(7).

  Why not accommodate large monolithic packages like this with a new
subdirectory, such as $PREFIX/packages?  It would *not* be intended for
everything, just for things that are typically distributed in binary
form by third parties and don't easily break up into the existing categories.
