The idea is for the package itself to do something along the lines of:

.include "../../mk/bsd.prefs.mk"
.if ${USE_RSAREF2} == "YES"
PATCHDIRFILES+=		rsaref-patch-*
.endif

(The name of the PATCHDIRFILES variable above was just pulled out of a hat,
not officially proposed yet.)
