OK, I did it slightly differently. Rather than have {NO,ALL,YES,any}
(which gives me a headache thinking about what "any" would do),
there's only {NO,ALL,any}. It should still work the same as before
with DEINSTALLDEPENDS set to anything but "NO" or "ALL", (including
"YES"). Probably best to leave "ALL" undocumented, until a more
elegant scheme is worked out.
