I just ran 'make update' on xpmroot and after reinstalling it
tried to install 'x11/fvwm2'. In this case it was not a
massive problem, but if the make update had been run on a package
required by any others it could leave someone's system in a very
	unhappy state.

At the very least many make update could check for the presence
of each directory in .DDIR, and if not found fail with an error
indicating the user could manually update .DDIR and restart the
	update.
