Nobody has to do what we say. :-) Seriously, this would be some work
and I think effort is better applied at getting code to not use part
of the internal (and I was going to say undocumented) interfaces
unnecessarily.
I would also like to add that the problem with CVS was not with the
API, or actually with the link line failing but because bad heuristics
in the configure.in thought that the Heimdal included in NetBSD was a
MIT krb5!
