It seems confusing that metamail pkgsrc is called metamail, but registered
as a package as "mm".

Should the package name also be metamail to be consistent -- or at least
easier to recognize?

(I installed it, because sylpheed needs it to use .mailcap -- although not
documented in sylpheed manual. Now my wife can *easily* open a zipped
attachment using cxunzip via metamail!)
