Just for completeness, do note that that part wasn't the part I was
concerned with - that's what's in the slapd script now (from
pkgsrc/databases/openldap).
I certainly have no problems with changing it to be something better.
My comment was aimed at adding (effectively) "slapd=NO" to the script,
before the config files are read (if they exist - if they don't, the
valud of slapd isn't used anyway, so it doesn't matter). That is, the
line that would be in /etc/defaults/rc.conf if this were a system rc.d
script, instead of a pkgsrc one.
