You've got my vote.

They're not limited to family members of glib2. I find the phenomena
in libxml2-2.6.16, which installs these bogus libs:
lrwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 17 Nov 17 00:41
/usr/pkg/lib/libxml2.so -> libxml2.so.2.6.16
lrwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 17 Nov 17 00:41
/usr/pkg/lib/libxml2.so.2 -> libxml2.so.2.6.16
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 1098971 Nov 17 00:41 /usr/pkg/lib/libxml2.so.2.6.16
...but the apps linked thereto are looking for libxml2.so.8 (Had I
seen this thread earlier tonight, I would not have posted that
observation to the users list.)
Same deal with gtk2.
So, the feature of a pkg name containing a numeral may be the monkey
wrench in the water pump. so to speak...
Best regards,

No no no, my fish's name is Eric, Eric the fish. He's an halibut.
I am not a looney! Why should I be attired with the epithet looney
merely because I have a pet halibut?
