After watching pkgsrc fetch 45 individual patch files for VIM from the
same host using 45 separate FTP connections and logins, I was wondering
if there might not be some easy way to optimize the use of "ftp" to
fetch all the files that come from the same host using one login.  Does
anyone have any ideas how this might be done?

(seems it would be a great idea for a top-level "make fetch" too!)
