I think this should be centralized, having N copies that create a
Makefile to process with imake seems highly suboptimal. Case in
point: this is the second fix to each of them in as many days.
Maybe the builtin framework should make use of some helper shell
scripts? (Somehow, make does not seem like the best choice of
language.)
