I don't believe that the "CVS" versus "cvs" case is really a problem.
What I would expect is that the files from pkgsrc/devel/CVS/* (like
Entries, Repository, Root) and the files from pkgsrc/devel/cvs/* (like
Makefile, distinfo) get mixed together in a single directory, but there
are no name collisions at that level, and everything should just work.
I haven't actually tried this, but then neither have most of the people
who say it won't work.
