Yes, please.  I've had this in my mk.conf for a while now with good
results.  There must be some way we could do a proper check, though.

What do you think about setting LD_LIBRARY_PATH with ${DESTDIR}
prepended [in a seperate environment just for CHECK_SHLIBS]?  I
believe we discussed this but I don't recall if you mentioned any
caveats.
