I was actually wondering about this myself when updating devel/scmgit,
as it installs a Git.3 manpage underneath the "vendor" hierarchy.
IMHO, this discussion also leads us to something which many have
discussed in the past:  some kind of pkgsrc framework for adding
various paths/"collections" to man.conf.
