"I don't like it as it hides problems" is not an objection?

All packages that have been mentioned so far directly or indirectly use
distutils. mod_python has it in dist/, xentools3 has it,
py-fuse-bindings. For example, mod_python uses different optimizer
flags, which is not a good thing here.
