All these options are not good for my case. The machines are usualy diskless
and they need non-NFS /tmp because otherwise our atf test suite does not
work (reliably).

I am happy with that (and /var/tmp is such a place for me).
But you said "force /tmp", which would be annyoing.

P.S.: in theory it would be good to fix the test suite issues with NFS workdir,
but especially in failure cases (e.g. when processes stick around and keep
files open) this is not trivial.
