For the record, the top five warnings are:

259 WARN: The user-defined variable VARBASE is used but not added to BUILD_DEFS.
628 WARN: The LOCALBASE variable should not be used by packages.
643 ERROR: Packages that install hicolor icons must include "../../graphics/hicolor-icon-theme/buildlink3.mk" in the Makefile.
4915 ERROR: Each package must define its LICENSE.
21787 ERROR: Each patch must be documented.

(surely VARBASE doesn't need to be added to BUILD_DEFS by hand?)
