Yeh, I was already looking at this through OS_VARIANT, but the required
changes to bsd.prefs.mk are too invasive for me to pursue right now, so
I think this is a reasonable compromise.
I've added PRETTY_NAME, I think that'll be sufficient for now.

For NetBSD, sys_info(1) could be a good starting point (there are a wide variety of updating styles in use, so using just a kernel version is usually insufficient)
