I agree.  One of the other side-effects, which is why I removed a lot of 
generic BUILDLINK_TRANSFORM, is that you end up with unsupported flags 
in packaged *-config scripts because the software thinks the flag is ok, 
but we don't notice until users try to use the software to build outside 
of a pkgsrc environment.
