Oops, yeah, that would have helped. I as running -current 10.99.12,
March something... I tried to upgrade to April 9th or something and
it completely messed everything up (I suppose that's what I get for
using sysupgrade...).

Hmm, thanks for sharing this! I bet that's what was causing the issue.
I may try to follow -current again but maybe stay away from sysupgrade
and just do things the old fashoned way.
