What do you think about having an UPDATING file at the top level (or under doc/), containing hints about potential glitches when updating pkgsrc? src has something like this, and I remember OpenBSD having it too. This hint could be put in there for people not reading the mailing lists all the time.
Also: This is going to break people updating with pkgin once the next branch comes, right? Is there something we can do to make "pkgin full-upgrade" do the right thing instead of erroring out?
