Yes, but "ps ax" at the shell prompt also causes it, if you read a bit
further down.
And, in that same shell, "cd /u0" causes the process to hang.
It looks like a lock isn't being released, somewhere, perhaps -- after
I hit reset, I more or less had to rebuild my filesystems, as fsck had
problems with nearly every file that was written during the build.
