If we are going to fix this, why not go one step further, and use
/usr/obj/i386
by analogy with
/usr/src/sys/arch/i386
/usr/share/man/cat8/i386
/usr/src/distrib/i386
/usr/src/lib/libc/arch/i386
and others...
