My, admittedly uninformed, impression is that bmake has diverged from
the sysv make/gmake/... branch of the family tree so much as to become
its own thing that is not really compatible with other makes beyound
simple makefiles from about, eh, late 80s - early 90s(?) let's say. On
NetBSD you pretty much have to have both (b)make and gmake anyway. I
would say trying to retrofit this feature into bmake is not worth it
economically and who knows what kidn of surprises in the feature
matrix it may run into.
