Could we offer another option (which would get my vote for the default
setting too) to pipe all rc.d output to /dev/null and relying on rc.d script
to properly syslog all important events? (Yeah, most of them are realy
lacking in this regard - which is a different bug)

We could even display an animated GIF on the console while booting, now that
the gif related patents have expired...
