In 7.99.21
the output of dmesg doesn't show any errors related to my graphic card.
I have default 7RC3 install too. The same situation.
The strange xterm's text selection effect in compiz, which I described in
email is "fixable" for me by exporting LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT=1 and adding
--indirect-rendering flag. 
Everything is 100% ok now :)
