graphics drivers needing X root privileges?

Hi folks,

It's pretty silly to have X running as root, when so many situations
don't require it.

Can we put together a list of drivers that would require it to still run
as root, perhaps write a tiny wrapper that if those drivers are not loaded,
we run unprivileged? :-)

It won't give us a free pass from these problems, but it'd be an
improvement.
