Hi,

Just thought I'd post a mention about tinyx-wscons.

It works for 1bpp 4bpp 8bpp on up displays and is very fast.

It doesn't support many modern features such as GL/GLX or DRI.

Its primary target is vintage hw supported by NetBSD.

When used as a replacement X server in the startx script the startup time is 
approximately 25 minutes (25Mhz 68030 14 MB RAM)

I found slowdows cased from parsing too many fonts which I limited to 
/usr/X11R7/lib/X11/fonts/misc and changing the use of uxterm back to xterm.

As a consequence it now starts full ctwm with an xterm on screen in 3 minutes 
and 20 seconds.

It may need some work for other platforms though other than amd64/i386/m68k as 
I dont have the hw to test others. It sould work on all with a wsfb framebuffer 
wscons keyboard and mouse.
