You don't need to have a DF system handy to realize that this is
required, only to verify the fix.
The summary is that I found a real problem, but I mishandled the resolution.
I found the nearest existing PR (#45527) and updated it with this
information. An update to multimedia/vlc is required, and not just for
DragonFly.
The only maligned thing about Tinderbox is that it's not the right
tool for the job. This is pkgsrc, not the ports collection for
FreeBSD. I have been using the ports collection for work for a while
now, and I am very distinctly happy that this is pkgsrc.
I announced a neat project that works very well with pkgsrc after a
couple of weeks of modification and I'm still improving it. If nobody
on the NetBSD finds value in having the tool for NetBSD, that's fine.
Using ports daily and using Tinderbox are not the same thing, so as I
asked Joerg: Is your assessment of the inadequacy of Tinderbox as a
pkgsrc tool based on extensive experience using it on FreeBSD? If not,
perhaps reserve judgement and if so, chalk it up to different preferred
workflows.
I don't want to turn this into a Tinderbox discussion. The original
thread about it was met with crickets.
