looks like the problem I had if /bin/sh is not fully conformant. I got this message on Linux, when /bin/sh -> /bin/bash. If you do the right thing with the pkgsrc SHELL (in various env variable forms) and/or replace /bin/sh with a ksh, you can get rid of this.. -G
