Yes, at least for the i386 32 bits (PAE) kernel. Colin convinced me that
the hypervisor used for EC2 is more strict regarding page pinning (when
you "pin" a page as being a PD, PT for memory translation) than the Xen
one available via pkgsrc. So it panics early during boot, when switching
pmap (when init(8) is first executed).
Dunno about amd64 images though. I am about to start playing with them
when my EC2 packages are finished.
