So most of what I wanted that page for we already have, I'd just missed it. If there's duplication and confusion now, perhaps the right answer is to factor out the description of the meaning of each variable/knob to a sysctl.conf(5) or sysctl(7), and leave the existing pages to talk about the access mechanism / api rather than the actual settings. Certainly, the description in sysctl(3) indexed by cpp macro names rather than sysctl node names isn't the most convenient. But I'll leave that up to whoever wants to actually do the work. -- Dan.
