The sftp I read the spec for wasn't. It was a (misleadingly named)
remote filesystem access protocol, much more like NFS than like FTP.
draft-ietf-secsh-filexfer-12.txt is what I'm basing this upon. As far
as I can tell no RFC has been issued fpr sftp yet; what spec are you
basing your statements upon? Perhaps it's been scled back since -12.
